Welcome to Raising Rookies! This is a resource for parents who are dedicated to helping youth develop quality family relationships, athletic skills, and an overall healthy lifestyle.
Many of you are like us, having questions when it comes to navigating the world of youth sports and exercise. Drawing from our personal experience, academic study, and mentorship by industry professionals, we are always looking for ways to improve on our athletic journey. We definitely believe in unstructured, active play for children, but also recognize the opportunity for positive parental influence. Spending just 20 minutes a day performing the activities in our programs can improve athletic coordination, strength, focus, energy levels, and overall health.
Join us and follow along as we build lifelong skills and confidence in our kids through sports and physical activity.
Hi, I'm Holly, and I created Raising Rookies as a way to share my experiences with other sports parents. My background includes being a 3-sport athlete in high school, collegiate basketball player and personal trainer. While earning my degree in Exercise and Sport Science at UNC-Chapel Hill (Go Tarheels!) I discovered I REALLY enjoy training athletes. I am excited to share with you what I do for my own three young athletes.
Our family stays active through running, waterskiing and snow skiing, hiking, biking and playing ALL of the sports in our backyard.
